Birth & Postpartum Doula

BIO

My name is Domanique Lawrence, she/her, and I am a BEST certified Birth Doula as of 2023! For me, birth is an experience between the birther and the baby, it's a moment where the birther simply lets go and experiences these changes in the best way possible. As a doula, I want to be a part of that support and advocacy that allows the best experience.

A little about me: I'm from Memphis, TN, and I've wanted to be a doula since I was 16. Prior to my education, I knew two things: 1) I want to be a helper, and 2) I'm obsessed with anything that has to do with birth! For this very reason, in addition to my long-time dream of being a doula, I am also currently a nursing student and aim to become a Labor and Delivery nurse. In the future, I'd love to become a Nurse- Midwife as well! Currently, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Community and Public Health from MTSU, a degree I take a lot of pride in. I know when I become a nurse, and even now as a Doula, I want to serve under-represented communities. I want to be that ear when people feel like no one is listening, and I want to be the eyes for those who feel like no one can see them, ESPECIALLY during childbirth, when the birther is often feeling vulnerable, and afraid.

In my free time, I spend a lot of time reading up on new practices and becoming acquainted with all things science. I consider myself a big nerd, but at the same time, this is so important because our clients deserve the best!  I also love to take long drives, swim, study for nursing school, and bake!
